Spring Drill Weekend, Fort Ontario, Oswego, NY.
As a warm up to the coming year, the annual Spring Drill will be held at Fort Ontario in Oswego from Saturday 18th April to Sunday 19th with camping facilities and indoor bunkhouses from Friday night through to Sunday. This will be an opportunity for people new to reenacting to learn some of the basics of the Civil War drill manual, experience camp life and work with other reenactors. For more experienced reenactors, it is an opportunity for a refresher before the first battle events of the year.
Fire on the Genesee, Letchworth State Park, NY.
The Fire on the Genesee Event is held annually, overlooking Letchorth Gorge, at Highbanks recreation area. The extensive camp includes living history activities throughout the course of the weekend, drill sessions and public displays, a dance on Saturday evening and battles on Saturday and Sunday. Camping is available from Friday 16th May to Sunday 18th.
Hamlin Beach Civil War Encampment, Hamlin, NY.
The Civil War Reenactment at Hamlin Beach State Park (in Hamlin, NY) is in it's tenth year. The weekend's events include battles on Saturday and Sunday afternoon as well as living history displays throughout the weekend and a civil war dance on Saturday evening, all carried out on the banks of Lake Ontario. This year's event is held from Friday 15th August to Sunday 17th.
