| This is the link to the Erie Canal Village in Rome, New York. This place is rich in history. It’s the site if the
ground breaking of the first Erie Canal, and part of the second Erie Canal runs through it. It’s the site of Ft. Bull, the western
end of the great portage trail from the Mohawk River at Ft. Stanwix to Wood Creek. This trail was the main water route from Albany
and the Eastern Seaboard to the Great Lakes and the Western Frontier during the French and Indian Wars and the Revolutionary War.
There’s a working steam railroad and mule/horse drawn packet boat rides on the second Erie canal. That’s just the beginning of the
list. Plan to stay for a whole day when you come. There is a Civil War living history and battle weekend on the first weekend in August
sponsored by the 12thUS... |

to show you their place. There is a Civil War living history and skirmish held here in the autumn. See
also the 12thUS site above... |
